March Madness

March was mad! We are talking mad craziness for the gospel, A BIG WAVE! We were blessed to host a team of 19 high school juniors/seniors/parents/youth leaders for 4 absolutely life-changing days!  Photos for this team are on the Post-It page.

If anyone ever says, “19 people is too many” or “what can be done in just 4 days?” be prepared for the Father to prove His power in the face of doubt. We were blown away to see such a unified, easy-going, and willing group of people in our city. Our work was expanded tenfold. The team was able to have many intentional conversations with students and new friendships were formed. We have spent the last few weeks since the team has been gone answering meaningful questions, furthering these relationships, and sharing truth.

Thanks to technology these conversations are still taking place thousands of miles apart.  The coolest thing is to receive a text message from a student saying, “Hi, I want to know more about becoming a family member and Caleb from the Texas team said I should ask you about it.”  This is just one example of the many we have been receiving.

Becky met with this student and her roommate to have this conversation in person. These two girls are so infatuated with their “American Dream”. Both girls expressed how much they desire to believe in “something” because they are frustrated with their country and how the main religion here is to “believe in yourself/nothing”. They see American people believing in something and they think this is the reason why Americans have such a good and wonderful life. (Of course the most exposure most SE Asians have to Western culture is from watching movies, etc.) Becky explained to her that not everyone in America is a family member.

They have seen the J-film about the life of J several times in Becky’s classes and they want to know if this is really a part of our history, and if he really did rise from the dead. They asked, “Why do SO many people believe in J?” “Did this really happen?” When they asked the last question, immediately Becky felt the freedom of the HS. It is not our primary role to make arguments, prove, or try to convince someone whether or not this really happened. There is freedom in this pressure because this is the role of the HS. Only he can work in their lives by speaking to these girls and revealing the proof of JC. He reminded Becky of her role in that she is to be transparent as she is being used by the HS to share truth and the message with these two girls. Becky shared that she is reading the Chronological One Year good book and that she is constantly learning something new about Father. The two girls asked if they could start reading with Becky on a weekly basis. We praise Him for His divine appointments!
