His Showering Grace
This was one of the most memorable weeks we’ve been able to experience so far. Becky’s first group of students graduated on Thursday and we were thankful to be a part of their ceremony. Becky and the E-team girls danced with some teachers to a local famous song, and the E-team sang Amazing Grace with their language teachers in front of at least 200 people. We ended the week with a 3-day village trip to be a part of what Chris has been involved in with his m-stry over the last 2 years.
We spent some time with the minority women who make the embroidery items by hand that many of you were able to see in the Christmas Store back home. We shared meals together with local people, pryer walked through the mountains and pryed over many different small villages. This was a once in a lifetime experience for our Extreme Team members and we praise Father for making it happen!
Highlight from our 3-day village trip:
We were able to visit some ancient tea trees that ranged from 600-800 years old during our village trip. While Chris was picking some tealeaves from the top, we noticed a tiny little lady with a red scarf around her head picking plants from the field next to us.
Becky climbed over the rocks and spoke to her in her language. She told the sweet lady that she wanted to come over and say hello and to tell her that she was very beautiful. This woman had the most infectious smile we’d ever seen. Becky looked down at this woman’s bare feet and told her how strong she was to be working in the field without any shoes! Then the woman proceeded to point to her house and invite Becky up the mountain to her home.
They walked together up the mountain and Becky was able to ask her some questions. This woman is of a certain minority group, and she shared that she is 57 years old and has a daughter and a grandchild.
They reached the woman’s home and she disappeared behind a fence into her garden. A few minutes later, she came back with a rice bag loaded full of giant cucumbers and squash. She wanted to give Becky a bag of these cucumbers as a gift.
We had nothing to give in return other than a handful of jolly rancher candy, which she was so happy to receive! We were able to pry over this woman, her husband, and their home asking Father to make Hname known to them.
We were also able to connect this sweet family with a local coworker of ours who plans on visiting them on his next trip back. We pry that he will be able to share the message with this family and that it will be received. Currently in this woman’s village, there are no believers. We felt Father’s light in a dark place, but we also felt a spirit of hope as we connected with this sweet woman.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1:5
