The Simple Life - Week 22

Gobble Gobble Gobble!!!

Hitting the road for 5 hours with a turkey in a trash bag is one crazy way to start off the holiday festivities!

This Thanksgiving was the most meaningful and memorable holiday we have shared with our local friends and students in our time overseas. Having a real turkey in our oven for the first time in 3 years was something special!

It was the students’ first time to see a picture of a live turkey on the Internet and a prepared turkey on the table. They tasted turkey for the very first time and they absolutely loved it! Before everyone arrived, we spent the day together just the two of us cooking lots of food and reflecting on our relationships with these students.

We pryed for each student before they arrived, and we asked Father to bless our time together. Once everyone arrived, we gathered in a circle and each student expressed a pryer of thanksgiving. It touched our hearts to hear them say what they are thankful for, and to acknowledge the Father in doing so. We shared with them the true meaning of Thanksgiving and that we are thankful to Father for loving us and for sending his Son to die for our sins.

The highlight for Becky happened when some of the girls went to get Mama Li and bring her to our home. Mama Li came inside for TWO platefuls of turkey and dressing, took pictures with everyone in the photo booth, and even stayed to watch a little bit of Home Alone!

It was such a special night to have all of our friends in our home during a memorable holiday.
