Impactful Summer
Hello friends and family! As the new semester begins, we are ready to resume our weekly updates!
As sad and frustrated as we were in the beginning of summer that the other 3 students were not approved for their visas to visit America, we are now able to clearly see how divine Father’s plan was to bring just 1 student home with us.
Our student spent her time with 3 awesome host families, all who gave her a great picture of how the gospel comes to life. She had the chance to do some traveling, and she served as an intern at several different places in Arlington. She visited several different universities in America and is working hard at returning to the states as a student in the near future. She fell in love with Texas, BBQ, friends, and family.
Most of all, she fell in love with our home community and enjoyed attending each Sunday morning. She was fully immersed in the message for the first time in her life. She said that she would miss it the most. She went from being completely turned away from the message to now being open to becoming family some day. Becky will meet with her weekly once she returns to school for the semester. Please remember their relationship as it continues to develop and deepen, and that Father will continue to draw her to Him!
We want to say a special thank you to the host families, workers and volunteers at the LC, everyone at Camp Thurman, and those of you who gave "A" the opportunity to shadow you at your workplace. If you had the chance to meet "A" and spend any time with her, thank you for loving her so well! "A’s" life will forever be changed because of the love she received from everyone she met.
Some of you may know that Chris had a kidney stone for 5 weeks of our time in America. He was able to have it removed successfully by having surgery. Because Chris needed surgery, Becky had to travel back to SE Asia by herself. She made it home safely and is continuing to adjust. Chris flew out on Thursday morning to return to SE Asia and join Becky. Thank you for remembering both of us during this time. It has certainly been a new challenge we’ve faced and we have felt the comfort of Father’s love and protection the entire time we’ve been apart.
We have the most exciting news we could share! One of our students we’ve worked closely with for the last year and a half met with Becky Sunday night to pr to commit to become a new follower of the Son! We are praising Father and celebrating this new sibling in the family of the King! Becky is continuing to meet with her each week to prepare for the upcoming days when she will go swimming. She wants to wait until Chris returns so that he can be here for that moment when we dunk her!
Thank you for working together with us as we continue to serve and love people from near and afar! We love and miss you all. Cheers to a new semester!
